| 1st Nov 2011 - Another Unvi for White's of St. Albans
White’s Coaches of St. Albans has added yet another Unvi coach to its fleet, the second this year. Featured on the Unvi stand at Coach and Bus Live in October, this is the final 29 seat GTR model to be produced. Future models will offer a maximum of 27 seats owing to regulation changes. Based on the Mercedes Benz 818 chassis with uprated engine that gives enhanced performance, the new model also includes customer specified enhancements to the interior. Politecnica Relax GTV seats fitted with ‘all heights’ free flow seat belt guiders, centre armrests and attractively trimmed in black and grey virtual leather incorporating the ‘Unvi’ logo, are complemented by grey suede and grey full draw curtains to create an executive ambience. Dark tint double glazing, Hispacold air conditioning fed through fully serviced parcel racks, coolbox and a comprehensive multimedia system complete the interior specification. Extra large boot and side locker offer ample luggage capacity and the exterior is painted in metallic silver adorned with White’s distinct yet subtle livery. | 31st Oct 2011 - New Unvi GTR/Mercedes Benz 818 for White Knights
White Knights Travel of Maidenhead has recently added its first Unvi built coach to the seven vehicle fleet. The new addition is a GTR 29 seat model based on the Mercedes Benz 818D chassis that offers increased engine output and enhanced performance at lower engine revs through the six speed manual gearbox, compared to the more common 816D model. Fully coachbuilt with an R66 rollover compliant structure the GTR features Politecnica Grand Rally seats trimmed in virtual leather and cloth with gangway armrests and three point belts. The coach also benefits from Hispacold roof mounted air conditioning, double glazing with extra dark tint to side windows, a comprehensive radio/cd/pa and dvd system plus reversing camera. Luggage capacity is generous with a nearside locker and large rear boot. White Knights was founded in 1993 by Managing Director Debbie Eustace who commented, “We were looking for a vehicle that would take us to the next level. Having appraised the market we decided the Unvi GTR offered the most stylish high quality solution, with the level of specification we were seeking and low interior noise levels. We are in a perfect location and the GTR is ideally suited to our corporate and London tour operations.” |
| 15th Aug 2011 - First Vega GT in London
M.W. Healey Coaches has become the first London operator to take delivery of a new Vega GT. Fully coachbuilt with an R66 rollover compliant structure based on a Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis, the Vega GT offers an added dimension to Unvi’s Vega range which previously featured only conversions. The M.W. Healey model was built to order and is based on the 516 chassis fitted with the 5 speed automatic gearbox. Customer specified Politecnica Relax GTV seats trimmed in black and grey virtual leather with fold down armrests, seat back magazine pockets and rear grabhandles are fitted along with pleated full draw curtains and a gangway carpet. The Vega GT features full length parcel racks with service units, full saloon air conditioning that is also fed through the dash vents and convection heating as standard. Access is via an electrically operated plug door, there is also a driver’s door and 4.2 cubic metres of luggage capacity courtesy of the extra large rear boot with manual parallel lift door and underfloor lockers. Bosch pa and hand microphone were also specified to complement the Sound 20 audio system that also features bluetooth connectivity. Paintwork is in Mercedes Benz silver metallic. The new model will operate on Incoming Tourist work, Private Hire and Support for London’s Key Event venues in which the company specialises. All Vegas benefit from a 3 years Mercedes Benz warranty along with a 2 years bodywork warranty from Unvi. The coachbuilt Vega GT is available with 8 to 18 seats and can be tailored to meet customer’s individual requirements. |
| 8th Aug 2011 - New Unvi GTR automatic for Speedicars
Speedicars, based just off the Old Kent Road in London, has recently added a new Euro 5 Mercedes Benz 816 based UNVI 29 seat GTR coach to its fleet. Featuring a 5 speed automatic gearbox, the new vehicle incorporates Politecnica Grand Rally seats trimmed in grey virtual leather and cloth plus a courier seat. Hispacold air conditioning with automatic temperature control also features along with convection radiators, double glazing, parcel racks with individual service units, reverse camera, Blaupunkt radio/cd/pa/dvd and an extra large luggage boot with underfloor lockers. Speedicars started trading in 1987 with minicabs and private hire cars, predominantly serving local social clubs. The company began to operate coaches in 1997 with purchases from other operators but has now bought one new coach per year in the last ten years. The current fleet of nine vehicles covers 16 to 49 seats, all are fully air conditioned and under three years old, including a very impressive discobus and limousine. A fleet of 80 minicabs are still operated from a second site. Commenting on the new acquisition, director Peter Waterhouse said, “We were looking for a stylish coach that would turn heads, offer low interior noise levels with a high degree of comfort, excellent sound system and efficient air conditioning system. The GTR looked the part and is certainly living up to expectations.” The new coach will be engaged on private hire and tour work, both UK and continental, and will be utilised on day trips to France and theme parks. Another important role will be serving key corporate clients including blue chip companies for which “the GTR is ideally suited.” |
| 30th Jul 2011 - New GTR is first Unvi for Travelstar
Gatwick based Travelstar has recently taken delivery of its first new UNVI coach, a 29 seat GTR. Based on Mercedes Benz 816 euro 5 chassis with 6 speed manual gearbox, the new vehicle features Politecnica Grand Rally seats trimmed in burgundy virtual leather and cloth, convection heating, double glazing, full length parcel racks with individual service units, reverse camera, coolbox, Blaupunkt radio/cd/pa and dvd with drop down monitor. The Hispacold air conditioning system operates with automatic temperature control and offers a choice of fully recirculated air or a combination of recirculated and fresh air via a flap in the roof mounted unit. At the rear is an extra large luggage boot that is complemented by underfloor lockers. The new coach will operate on corporate and private hire duties including air and sea port transfers. One area of growth has been in support of other operators as a result of the company’s increased marketing activities. As proprietor Tony Grace states, “Being close to Gatwick is a big selling point for us and we are often asked to assist other operators with passenger movement. It may even be to transport them to the starting point for a longer tour. The quality of our small fleet is in keeping with the standards expected by key corporate clients and tour passengers. The stylish and quiet Unvi GTR further enhances our standing and offers high passenger appeal and comfort. We realised we had found the right vehicle as soon as we saw it.” Travelstar was founded in 2005 with just 1 minibus and now operates two minicoaches and two Mercedes midis. |
| 22nd Jul 2011 - White’s of St. Albans – Unvi GT VIP 16 seat coach
White’s Coaches of St. Albans has recently taken delivery of its third Unvi vehicle and fifth purchase from Doncaster dealer Minis to Midis, in three years. A 16 seat VIP GT based on Mercedes Benz 616 Vario chassis with 6 speed manual gearbox has now joined the fleet alongside an earlier Unvi GT 29 and Unvi Sprinter 616 22 seater. Offering an exceptionally spacious interior the VIP features Fainsa America extra wide seats trimmed in two tone grey leather in a 2 + 1 format plus a double and single table with power sockets for laptop computers. The coach also benefits from Hispacold air conditioning, convection heating, double glazing, radio/cd/pa, dvd with remote control and front and rear monitors, reverse camera, coolbox and a large rear luggage boot with side lockers. Greg White who now heads up the family owned operation that was founded in 1960, has recently focused the company’s marketing activities more towards the corporate and hospitality market and the strategy appears to be paying off as more key contacts are being established. The higher specification vehicles in the fleet are now more in demand and less emphasis is being placed on local contracts as the fleet is updated with Mercedes Benz based models with air conditioning and leather interiors. Baildon Motors Ltd. of Guiseley, trading as Dalesman, has recently taken delivery of a new UNVI 29 seat coach, its third Unvi model. Based on Mercedes Benz 816 euro 5 chassis with 5 speed automatic gearbox, the new vehicle features an upgraded version of the Politecnica Grand Rally seat trimmed in burgundy virtual leather and cloth plus Hispacold air conditioning with automatic temperature control, convection heating, double glazing, full length parcel racks with individual service units, reverse camera, Blaupunkt radio/cd/pa and dvd with drop down monitor. At the rear is an extra large luggage boot that is complemented by underfloor lockers. The vehicle will be operated on corporate and private hire duties and will also be used for smaller groups within the company’s extensive UK and continental tour programme. Baildon Motors can trace its roots back to 1936 and came under the control of current owners the Hartshorne family in the mid 1980’s. The company operates a modern fleet of mini, midi and full size coaches. Ken Hartshorne, Managing Director, commented, “We have known the personnel at Unvi UK and their dealer for many years. | 21st Jul 2011 - ABC Executive Travel – Unvi Classic 33 seat coach
ABC Executive Travel of Manchester, has recently taken delivery of a new UNVI 33 seat coach based on Mercedes Benz 816 euro 5 chassis with 6 speed manual gearbox. The new vehicle features Politecnica Rally seats trimmed in blue virtual leather and cloth together with Diavia air conditioning, convection heating, double glazing, full length parcel racks with individual service units, Blaupunkt radio cd and pa. At the rear is a large boot complemented by a nearside locker. Run by the Bowe family, the company operates a modern fleet of air conditioned Mercedes Benz based vehicles and can offer hires for 16 to 49 seats. The coach will be operated on private hire, local contract and holiday duties as well as corporate bookings in which the company specialises. The Classic is the fifth Unvi vehicle to join the fleet. Commenting on the acquisition, director Stuart Bowe said, “We are impressed with the build quality of the Unvi models, they have served us well. We were more than happy to add another to the fleet. They provide the reliability and image that we require.” |

Belatedly and with sincere apologies we are now able to show a picture of the Unvi GT 29 seat coach, based on Mercedes Benz 816 chassis, supplied to Motts Travel of Aylesbury last year. The coach is fitted with Politecnica Grand Rally reclining seats, Hispacold air conditioning, double glazing, dvd/radio/cd/pa and reverse camera. We like the use of the swept bodyside pillar to incorporate the stripe which sets off this stunningly striking livery. Well done and thanks for the pictures to Roger Mott and his team. |

Browns Coaches of South Kirkby near Pontefract, has taken delivery of its second new UNVI coach this year. Based on Mercedes Benz 515 Sprinter with 6 speed manual gearbox the new model is a 19 seat Vega conversion featuring Politecnica Rally seats trimmed in blue virtual leather and cloth, in dash and saloon air conditioning, convection heating, full length parcel racks with individual service units and a large rear dropwell boot. The coach will be operated on a range of duties including private hire and contracts. All Vegas benefit from a 3 years Mercedes Benz warranty along with a 2 years conversion warranty from Unvi. |
